The printer self test is useful for checking:

• Printhead operation
• Ribbon quality
• General printer operation
• For problems with individual characters

The self test requires that 14-7/8-inch wide paper be installed to prevent printing on the platen.

To start the self test, press and hold <LINE FEED> and then turn on the printer. The printout is shown in Figure 9.

To stop the self test, press <ON LINE/OFF LINE>. Press once to return the printer to the off line state. Press again to return the printer to normal operations.

The self test prints in the currently selected pitch. To print the self test in NLQ, select NLQ from the menu before starting the test.
