4200 Series Troubleshooting Guide
- Problem:
- Overprint of Vertical Stitch-Line(s)
A stitch line is the vertical line of characters located where one printhead ends print and another begins. Overprint of this line (printhead crossover distortion) indicates a problem with the printhead carriage belt. Refer to "Belt Adjustments".
| Probable Cause | Solution |
|
Belt stretching over time and is re-adjusted to its original tension.
|
Replace carriage belt.
|
NOTE:
The tachometer used with two and three printhead printers requires a pre-determined belt length as a standard. Additional belt length (re-tensioned stretched belt) is not accounted for by the carriage motor position sensor
