The platen adjust lever has 30 increments of .001"each to adjust platen spacing for a wide variation of document thickness. If platen adjustments are not effective in gaining proper print quality, check for a dry ribbon.

Worn printhead wires can also contribute to light print.

If the print is very thick and "splattered"on the paper, the ribbon is overinked. Either replace the ribbon with a proper quality ribbon, or use the overinked ribbon on non-critical printouts until it prints properly
