4200 Series Troubleshooting Guide
Problem:
Paperfeed Motor -- "Paper Jam"displayed

There is a paper motion sensor located on the left paper feed tractor to detect a paper jam (no paper movement). The paperfeed motor circuitry has an overcurrent sensor to detect a motor failure (short).

  1. Check paper for a clear/straight path. If it tears or jams, check paper edges, tractor positioning, and proper positioning/edge-trimming of the paper box in the cabinet.

  2. If paper path is okay, run a printer self-test.

If motor runs but paper does not advance, check/adjust/replace pulleys or belt no motor operation, check motor cabling.

  3. If the paper advances properly but continues to display "Paper Jam,"check the adjustment of the sensor.
