4200 Series Troubleshooting Guide
Problem:
Loud Buzzing While Printing

Immediately turn the printer OFF! The loud buzzing may be coming from the printheads. If this is the case, a data latch has shorted causing a set of print solenoids to strike at every data strobe pulse. The printhead will burn out very quickly.

Look for a solid horizontal streak on the printout. If so, replace the related printhead driver board. The abused printhead may be damaged and also require replacement.
