4200 Series Troubleshooting Guide
Problem:
Hex Dump Mode

A hex dump prints hexadecimal values of all data bytes received by the printer. Use this mode to check

  • proper receipt of printable characters.
  • control sequences.
  • nonprintable codes.

The hex dump mode is enabled/disabled from the "Tests"section of the menu. Refer to the previous "Tests"Menu illustration for hex dump selections. To print received data the printer must be returned to on line after hex dump is selected. Hex dump is printed in 10 pitch.

A hex dump sample is shown below. If the data bytes received are printable characters, the ASCII characters are printed in the column on the right. Unprintable characters, such as control codes, are represented as a dot(.).
