OTC1050 and OTC1450 (4130, 4140) Troubleshooting Guide
- Problem:
- Initiating Hex Dump Mode
The hexadecimal values of all byte values received by the printer are printed in hex dump mode. This mode is useful for checking:
- Proper receipt of characters by the printer
- Control code sequences
- Nonprintable codes
If using 8-inch wide paper, the hex dump must be done in 16.6 pitch.
The hex dump can be printed in 10 pitch or 16.6 pitch. Start hex dump mode as follows:
| 10 pitch | press and hold <LINE FEED> and <FORM FEED> and then turn ON the printer. |
| 16.6 pitch | press and hold <LINE FEED>, <FORM FEED> and <ON LINE/OFF LINE> and then turn ON the printer. Continue to press all three control keys for at least two seconds after power up. |
To exit hex dump mode, turn the printer power OFF.
The hex dump shows both the hexadecimal value of all ASCII characters received by the printer and, where possible, prints the ASCII character itself to the right. Unprintable characters are represented as a ( . ).

Upon entering hex dump mode, the printer is placed in Epson Emulation with IBM Character Set #2, and the Code Page currently selected.
