4130/4140/1050/1450 Transformer Compatibility
ATTN: FIELD
SERVICE
SUBJECT: The transformer OTC part number 1070002000 is not compatible with PCB
logic's 04000145xx without an additional hardware pigtail cable assembly being
added.

PROBLEM/SYMPTOM:
Output Technology is discontinuing the main logic PCB part number 04000168xx
for the 41XX printers. OTC will be only supplying main logic PCB with part number
04000145xx. We have found that our current transformer 1070002000 manufactured
by TMI only, is supplying too much AC voltage for the 12 Volt DC regulators.
Transformers Manufactured by Midwestco labeled with the same part number 107002000
do not have this problem. Without verifying the following matrix, you run the
risk of damaging your main logic PCB with part number 04000145xx stamped or
silk-screened on the PCB.
CAUSE:
Too much voltage supplied by TMI transformers with OTC part
number 1070002000. This will cause damage to main logic
boards 04000145xx. Older PCB's with 04000168xx do not run
the risk of damage.
SOLUTION/PROCEDURE:
Follow the matrix below to determine what steps you need to take as to keeping
the main logic PCB 04000154xx from being damaged upon powering on the printer.
Remember that the main logic PCB 04000168xx has no compatibility problem with
the transformers from TMI, OTC part number 1070002000.

SUMMARY:
Main logic PCB's 04000145xx will require a pigtailed cable (0200036900) at
JP1 when used with TMI transformer labeled with part number 1070002000. If your
TMI transformer is labeled with part number 1070002001, it is a modified transformer.
If you are using a TMI transformer 1070002000 or 1070002001 with a main logic
PCB with part number 10700168xx, there are no voltage concerns.
