PROBLEM/SYMPTOM:
The OTC 850XL printer connected to a UNIX based host may
stop in the middle of a print job with no error tones. Powering
off the printer, then on, the printer may or may not resume
printing the job where it left off. Other possible symptoms
may include:
- Taking the printer offline, then back online - the
printer will resume printing where it left off.
- Taking the printer offline, then back online - the printer
may have data loss but contiune to print.
CAUSE: version 1.00 to 1.02 OTC 850XL Printer Firmware
SOLUTION/PROCEDURE:
Call OTC technical support for the latest firmware revision,
currently version 1.03 and request part number 043-00380-02.
SUMMARY:
A NUL code sent from the Harris UART chip on the printer’s
main board cancells communication between the printer and
the host. Firmware versions 1.00 to 1.02 do not have codes
to prevent this NUL from being sent.
